About Me

Hi! I’m Addison. Books and Belonging is a dream of mine that I’m excited to finally make happen.

Q: How did you come up with this idea?

A:  I have been a sibling to many foster children. One of the things I have enjoyed most about this experience is reading books to all the kids at bedtime. One thing I found in common was that every child we had in our home had little exposure to books. By reading them bedtime books, I was able to change this. I wanted to be the change for many other children, as well.

Q: What are your hobbies?

A: When I’m not out on the soccer field or competing in Speech and Debate competitions, you can find me reading a book or spending my parents’ money at Barnes & Noble.

Q: What do you love most about reading?

A: Reading is like living many different lives all at once. You can escape to a world that is completely different from your reality, and I think that’s wonderful. For kids that have experienced trauma, reading can be an amazing coping mechanism.

Our Commitment to Literacy

At our organization, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to read and succeed. Literacy is a fundamental skill that opens doors to education and personal growth. We focus on children in foster care, providing them with books to enhance their reading abilities.

Why Literacy Matters for Foster Children

Literacy is not just about reading; it is about empowerment and opportunity. Children in foster care often face numerous challenges that can hinder their educational progress. By focusing on literacy, we aim to provide these children with the skills they need to navigate their educational journeys successfully. Investing in literacy is investing in their future.

We understand that fostering a love for reading is essential for long-term success. Together, we can create a brighter future for these children by prioritizing literacy and education.
